Abstract

Este artigo faz parte de uma investigação maior desenvolvida no âmbito do Doutoramento em Ciências da Comunicação. Baseado em pesquisa bibliográfica, procura-se mostrar como o instrumental teórico resultante dos intentos subjacentes à construção de uma teoria geral dos sistemas autopoiéticos e auto-referenciais evidencia uma aproximação sui generis à modernidade, quando a dicotomia indivíduo/sociedade deu lugar à distinção entre sistemas psíquicos e sociais, traduzindo-se estes últimos em comunicação e nada mais do que comunicação.
