Submission Preparation Checklist
ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Author Profile and Eligibility
- Minimum Degree: At least one of the authors must hold a completed PhD degree.
- Co-authorship Composition: PhD candidates may be first authors provided their advisor (holding a PhD) co-signs the manuscript. Master's degree holders are only accepted as co-authors if the main author holds a PhD.
- Degree Restrictions: Submissions from master's students, specialists, or undergraduate students as sole or co-authors will be rejected.
- Author Limit: A maximum of 4 authors per manuscript.
- Editorial Interstice: Authors must verify that none of the contributors have published in the journal within the last 15 months.
- International Identification: Active and mandatory inclusion of the ORCID iD for all authors in the system.

- Title Page: Identified, containing institutional data, emails, ORCIDs, funding agencies, and indication of the corresponding author.
- Original Manuscript: Fully anonymized and strictly formatted according to the official template.
- Open Science Compliance Form.
- CRediT Form: Taxonomy of author contribution.
- Conflict of Interest Declaration.
- Content Responsibility Declaration.
- Declaration on the Use of Generative AI and Language Models.
3. Anonymity and Integrity (Elimination Criteria)
- Manuscript Anonymity: The main file must not contain names, emails, authorship information in the file properties, or explicit references to the authors' theses/dissertations or research groups.
- Hidden Text: Identifying expressions must be textually replaced with: "Text removed to preserve blind review".
- Originality: Plagiarism software screening will be performed. The text must be unpublished (not published in conference proceedings, books, or other journals).
- International Exception: Prior publication in authorized Preprint servers is accepted and preserves originality.
4. Length Limits and Metadata
- Text Volume (including abstracts, notes, and references):
- Original Articles: Maximum of 40,000 characters with spaces.
- Critical Reviews: Maximum of 15,000 characters with spaces.
- Interviews: Between 20,000 and 30,000 characters with spaces.
- Language Structure (Metadata): Title, Abstract (up to 1,000 characters), and Keywords (up to 5) must be mandatory submitted in three languages: Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
- File Format: Exclusively in editable text formats (
.doc,.docx, or.odt).
5. Technical Standardization and Accessibility
- Citation Standards: Strict application of updated ABNT standards (NBR 10520/2023 for citations and NBR 6023/2020 for references).
- Electronic Links: All digital references must contain full, active URLs and must not be shortened.
- Accessibility of Visual Elements: Images, tables, and charts embedded in the text must mandatory include an Alternative Text (Alt Text) description right below the source.
- Data Formatting: Tables and charts must be vertically structured (portrait format) according to IBGE standards (without closed side borders).
6. Funding and Research Ethics
- Funding Statement: Explicit disclosure of supporting sources, funding agencies (e.g., CNPq, CAPES, FAPESP), and grant/process numbers on the Title Page.
- Ethics Committee: Express mention of the approval number from the institutional ethics committee whenever the research involves human participants.

Revista Intercom operates under an Open Access model. All journal content, including published articles, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise noted.
- Copyright: Authors retain unrestricted copyright and full publishing rights to their work without restrictions.
- License to Publish: Authors grant Revista Intercom the right of first publication. Concurrently, the work is licensed under CC BY 4.0, which permits sharing, copying, distributing, displaying, and creating derivative works, provided the original work is properly cited and ownership is acknowledged.
- The copyright terms applied to the articles are separate from the intellectual property rights of the journal's website interface and platform design, which remain the sole responsibility of the journal.
2. Author Responsibility and Disclaimer
- Third-Party Materials: Authors are solely responsible for securing all necessary permissions and clearances to reuse copyrighted materials (such as tables, images, illustrations, or long quotes) belonging to third parties within their manuscript.
- Trademarks: The appearance of generic names, commercial names, or trademarks in this publication does not imply that such terms are free from applicable statutory intellectual property restrictions.
- Opinion Disclaimer: The opinions, data, and concepts expressed in published articles are the sole responsibility of their authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editorial Board of Revista Intercom.
3. Self-Archiving and Sharing Policy
Revista Intercom permits and encourages authors to self-archive the published version of their articles (editor’s version / Version of Record) immediately upon publication. Works may be deposited in institutional or thematic repositories, academic blogs, and scientific social networks, provided they include an active DOI link and the full citation of the original source of publication.

Privacy and Personal Data Protection StatementIn accordance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD - Law No. 13,709/2018) and international guidelines on research integrity (COPE), the Revista Intercom adopts the following safeguards for the processing of data from authors, reviewers, and readers:
- Purpose of Processing: The collected data (names, emails, ORCID, institutional affiliation, and biography) are strictly intended for the execution of editorial services, peer review, citation metrics, anti-plagiarism checks, and communication regarding the status of the submission.
- Necessary Scientific Sharing: Data are not sold or transferred to third parties. However, upon article approval, authors' metadata will be shared with international indexers and databases (such as SciELO, Scopus, and Web of Science) to ensure the visibility and proper attribution of scientific authorship.
- Security and Storage: The journal implements appropriate technical and administrative measures to protect data against unauthorized access. In the event of manuscript rejection or archiving, unpublished data remain confidential within the system.
- Data Subject Rights: Users are guaranteed the right to access, rectify, or request the erasure of their registration data at any time, while safeguarding the editorial history and the public record of already published articles, which fulfill legal and scientific obligations.
