About the Journal
Intercom - Brazilian Journal of Communication Sciences is a publication of the Brazilian Interdisciplinary Society for Communication Studies (Intercom). Published since 1978, it has continuously improved as a scientific journal, maintaining regular, uninterrupted periodicity since its founding.
Intercom is the oldest Communication journal in Brazil currently in circulation. Since the 1980s, when it was among only four journals in the field then in existence, it has represented an important space for scientific dissemination and the democratization of knowledge, contributing to the advancement of and debate within the field of Communication. Today, it ranks among the field's leading publications, having been the first to be accredited by the major international indexing databases.
The journal follows the Diamond Open Access model, with no fees charged at any stage, and adheres to Open Science guidelines, publication ethics, and editorial diversity. To maintain its qualification as a journal and meet the entry and continuation requirements of databases such as SciELO, DOAJ, Redalyc, and Latindex, Intercom maintains a qualified and diverse Editorial Board, in geographic and gender terms. It also maintains rigorous review and editorial processes, prioritizing good practice and ethics in scientific research.
The journal's abbreviated title, to be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references, and bibliographic captions, is Intercom.
