Abstract

A metáfora enunciada como "síndrome dos países parentes" por Samuel Huntington, explicando o "choque de civilizações", ajuda a entender os impasses da Lusofonia, no início do século XXI. Nesse contexto, são pensadas estratégias contra-hegemônicas da comunidade luso-tropical no campo acadêmico-midiático para enfrentar os desafios da Globalização. Texto baseado em pesquisa bibliográfica.

    Professor Emérito da Universidade de São Paulo e Diretor da Cátedra UNESCO de Comunicação da Universidade Metodista de São Paulo. Presidente da Federação Lusófona de Ciências da Comunicação (1998-2002) e da Confederação Ibero-Americana de Associações Científicas de Comunicaçã (2009-2011). Foi vice-Presidente da International Association for Media and Communication Research (1992-1996) e presidente da Asociación Latinomericana de Investigadores de la Comunicación (1989-1992).
