Abstract This article analyzes the three main theories of the truth argued by the contemporary epistemology, in an attempt to identify which of them better suits journalism. Examining the theory of the truth as coherence, the pragmatic theory and the correspondence theory, it concludes that this latter is better adjusted, since journalism as well as science claim to hold a relation between language and reality. Keywords: journalism; truth; epistemology.Downloads
