Copyright and Licensing

Intercom adopts a copyright policy in accordance with SciELO Criteria, essential to protect the interests of authors while promoting the open and ethical dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Authors who publish in Intercom retain the copyright of their work: intellectual property remains with the person who wrote it, even though the article is published under the journal's imprint. Authors grant Intercom the right of first publication.

Creative Commons Licensing

Articles published in Intercom are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY), which allows third parties to use and share published works, provided appropriate credit is given to the original author and to Intercom. This approach promotes the ethical and accessible dissemination of scientific knowledge, with broad distribution and reuse of published works, without restriction.

Proper Citation of the Original Work

In accordance with the CC-BY license, any reuse or distribution of the articles must include proper citation of the original work, ensuring due recognition of the authors and maintaining the academic integrity of the publication process.

Intellectual Property and Terms of Use

Site responsibility: the copyright terms applied to content published by Intercom are declared separately and distinctly from the copyright terms applied to the website itself, ensuring transparency regarding rights and responsibilities.

Author responsibility: the use of generic names, trademarks, or registered marks in the publication does not imply that they are free of copyright restrictions. It is the author's responsibility to secure the necessary permissions for reuse of any protected material included in their manuscript. Opinions expressed in articles are the sole responsibility of the persons who sign them.

Self-Archiving by Authors

Intercom authorizes and encourages self-archiving of the published version of articles (Version of Record) immediately after publication, in institutional or subject-based repositories, personal blogs, and academic social media, provided the DOI link and full citation of the original source are included.
