Adoption of Similarity Verification and AI-Generated Content Detection Software

As part of its commitment to academic integrity and plagiarism prevention, Revista Intercom has adopted, since issue 47 (2024), the textual similarity identification service Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate), which is natively integrable into OJS via a plugin. Eventually, other tools and AIs may be used for information verification (CopySpider, Justdone AI), in addition to tools for detecting content generated by Artificial Intelligence, such as ZeroGPT. The integrity check occurs at the beginning of the editorial evaluation process, prior to peer review, allowing for the early identification and addressing of originality issues in the submission workflow. Manuscripts with a similarity rate higher than 30% compared to other published works, indicating plagiarism, will be rejected. Authors are fully responsible for the content presented in their manuscripts. Plagiarism cases reported after publication will be analyzed by the editorial team and, if the allegation is confirmed, the article will be immediately retracted from the journal, and appropriate penalties may be applied within the limits of competence of a scientific publication.
